HRC Equality:-

  1. All citizens of Somaliland shall enjoy equal rights and obligations before the law, and shall not be accorded precedence on grounds of colour, clan, birth, language, gender, property, status, opinion etc.
  2. Precedence and discrimination on grounds of ethnicity, clan affiliation, birth and residence is prohibited; and at the same time programmes aimed at eradicating long lasting bad practices shall be a national obligation.

Who We Are

Human Rights Centre (HRC) is local human rights watchdog based in Somaliland. HRC was established by group of human rights defenders. It is registered with the Somaliland government as a non-profit-making, non-governmental organization with its own legal personality. HRC was formed to cover the need for documentation and advocacy on human rights to help maintain the gains in Somaliland’s nascent democracy. HRC is governed by a board of directors who have been in the field in many years. Majority of the board members are female human rights defenders. The Centre has chairperson, deputy chairperson, secretary general and executive director.
